Want a Great Book on Basic Nutrition?
Kelly Hayford is the author of a great book on the basics of nutrition and why bad food makes people sick. The problem is that most people don’t realize what constitutes a “bad” food. Kelly makes this clear in her book, If It’s Not Food, Don’t Eat It! The title itself is great advice, but the main point is that few of us have ever learned the difference between a real food and a potato chip.
How far afield have we become that we don’t even know how to eat to feed the needs of our own bodies? Well, you can realize the scope of the problem when you learn that most people in the modern, civilized world are eating their weight in sugar every year! Or when you find out that most of the food that people eat is not considered food by your own body. We live in an era wherein people are trying to subsist on packaged, processed foods. This flies in the face of biology, which dictates that the human organism (meaning you and me) absolutely must have fresh, organically grown, pure, nutrient-dense fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts and meat in order to survive in health.
What are you feeding YOUR kids?
Now compare what was just written with this fact: most of what people eat these days comes in boxes and plastic wrappers, or it is served up to them in a fast food restaurant. These kinds of foods are loaded with artificial ingredients that consist of pesticides, antibiotics, steroids, emulsifiers, fake fats, altered fats, bad fats, rancid fats, refined oils, chemical flavorings, colorizers, texturizers and gunk. Add to this the fact that we are all constantly being exposed to chemicals that our bodies do not know how to handle. What is the result?
The result is nutrient deficiencies followed by symptoms followed by diseases. If you have any sort of symptom or disease, there is a correlating nutritional deficiency. But even more, this means your body is under attack.
Kelly Hayford’s book is a practical lesson we all need to learn because our bodies did not come with an owner’s manual, although we desperately need one! When I read this book I was delighted to know that there is such a good resource for those who really care about their health and the health of their families. Mothers are buying this book and coming to hear Kelly speak about nutrition. Now that’s commendable!
If you want the basics on good nutrition, diet and what makes people sick, get the book. Then after you read it, share it with a good friend because friends don’t let friends eat junk.
