Mouth sores are more than just a pain. They keep you from eating, kissing, brushing your teeth, chewing, brushing your teeth and even smiling. Researchers are very conflicted over what causes them, but I have a few theories of my own, starting with nutritional correlations that may pull you out of the slump.

What is a mouth sore, anyway? The kind I’m talking about is in your mouth and on the inside of your lip or the inner side of your cheek.  In other words, if you were to pull on your lip and look on the inside, it would be there, looking like a whitish spot about the size of a pencil eraser. It’s painful to the touch and doesn’t seem to want to go away. Although the sore, an ulceration,  is visible, the real problem comes from the inside, or what’s going on inside your body.

If you are prone to these mouth sores, try these suggestions:

  1. Do not eat any pepper or peppers or hot spices
  2. Take 4000 iu of vitamin D3 for only ten days (you can get this vitamin D3 at your health food store)
  3. Take 10 CalMag Balance (NutriPlex Formulas) and 12 Camu Camu (on our website) each day
  4. Avoid sugar and sugar-containing foods until the sore goes away
  5. Avoid all hard foods such as pretzels, potato chips, breadsticks, nuts
  6. Avoid all salty foods
  7. Avoid chocolate
  8. Avoid wheat (cold sores are often associated with gluten intolerance as well)

Nutritional deficiencies leading to mouth sores include a lack of foods that contain minerals (mainly green vegetable foods), a lack of vitamin C foods, an unbalanced diet, and hard-to-tolerate foods (including pepper, salt, spices, etc.) and even gluten intolerance (for many people).
