Is Your Vitamin C Fake or Food?

Not many people know this, but when it comes to vitamin C we’ve been sold a bill of goods — marketing hype. Vitamin C is a fantastic, important vitamin when it’s in food, but that’s not what you’re getting when you go to the health food store and pick up a bottle. Instead, you’re getting a chemical derived form corn syrup that the manufacturers sell as vitamin C/ascorbic acid. It’s a chemical.

Vitamin C, to be most effective as a nutrient, needs to be contained in its original food such as berries, fruits and vegetables. One of the best sources in the world comes from a special plant that grows along the river banks in the Amazon rainforest called Camu.
