Health Question: Nutrients for Addiction?

Q: What products are helpful in the treatment of addiction?

A: This question is not easy to answer because drug and alcohol addiction are complex problems that require professional help and therapy. The root of the problem is NOT nutritional; it is a nutritional deficiency. Rather, there is an emotional-physical connection that must be addressed ALONGSIDE any nutritional support. And, the nutritional support is not designed to address the addiction, but instead to address:
1. Nutritional deficiencies caused by addiction
2. Nutritional support for emotional and mental stress

HERE IS THE NUTRITIONAL SUPPORT SUPPLEMENT SCHEDULE:
BFOOD COMPLEX: 8 PER DAY
DIGESTPLEX: 2 PER MEAL
SUPERGREENS PHYTOFOOD: 1 T PER DAY
VITALIV: 4 PER DAY
WHOLE FOOD COMPLEX 6 PER DAY
ADRENAPLEX 2 PER DAY

Remember that recovery from alcohol and drugs is a lifelong pursuit.
Alcohol and drugs burden, impact and destroy the body in many ways:
Digestive System
Adrenal glands
Liver
Eliminatory system
Brain function
Nervous system
Malnutrition
Sleep pattern disruption
Physically Held emotional trauma

The majority of alcohol in the body is eliminated by the liver.
Ninety percent is eliminated through the body, while ten percent is eliminated (unchanged) through sweat and urine.

Alcohol is a central nervous system depressant.

Long-term Effects
1. Damage to vital organs; including liver, heart and pancreas.
2. Linked to several medical conditions; including
gastro intestinal problems,
malnutrition,
high blood pressure, and
lower resistance to disease.

Also linked to several types of cancer; including esophagus, stomach, liver, pancreas and colon.

Emotional & mental health: moods, anxiety, fear, unrest, depression, self-hate, anger
Physical health: brain, liver, kidneys, stomach, pancreas (blood sugar imbalances), tissue linings, adrenals, energy systems, memory, chronic fatigue, immune system depression, acidic imbalance, digestive system (absorption problems with possible damage to stomach linings and cilia of small intestines)

Bioindividuality
Each individual tolerates substances differently.

CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM
Drugs affect the various areas of the brain and change normal brain activity.
It is important to know what specific functions are located in each of the major brain areas, to better understand the effects of drugs and alcohol on behavior and functioning.

NUTRITIONAL GOALS
The long-term effect of all abuse is nutritional deficiency.

NUTRIENTS REQUIRED (Use NutriPlex Whole Food Formulas, NOT vitamin pills or multivitamins because these ARE NOT foods!!):
Vitamin B Complex found in yeast, brain, liver, whole grains
Vitamin C Complex found in berries, fruit
Amino Acids for protein-building, especially to help the glands such as liver, adrenals
Foods & Herbs that feed and nurture the liver
Herbs and foods that pull toxins out of the body
Chlorophyll-rich foods for cleansing
Foods to boost the immune system: shiitake mushroom, maitake mushrooms

SAMPLE SCHEDULE FOR NUTRITION DURING ALCOHOL RECOVERY
BFOOD COMPLEX: 8 PER DAY
DIGESTPLEX: 2 PER MEAL
SUPERGREENS PHYTOFOOD: 1 T PER DAY
VITALIV: 4 PER DAY
WHOLE FOOD COMPLEX 6 PER DAY
ADRENAPLEX 2 PER DAY

DIETARY CHANGES:
Non foods THAT place extra stress on the body (avoid these):
Oils and fats
Refined sugars
Artificial ingredients and chemicals
Personal care products with artificial ingredients: soap, etc. (chemicals absorbed through skin)
:
Summation:
Each of us is an individual and each person may be wholly or slightly affected by substance abuse in a different way.
The body tends to break down at its weakest point, which may mean skin problems for one person and memory problems for another.
We do not like to generalize when it comes to health, other than saying that we all need some basic nutrients to sustain us.
We view vitamins as chemicals and prefer the use of whole food concentrates.
The body takes a long time to recover and rebuild, and only natural ingredients promote natural healing. Vitamins are not natural, but foods, water, air, laughter, love, sunshine and meditation are.
