Green Tea Extract for Sleep Apnea

The American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine reports that green tea extract shows promise in addressing sleep apnea.

Rat studies at the University of Louisville, in conjunction with Soroka University Medical Center, showed that inflammation and oxidative stress was greatly relieved by administering green tea extract. Oxidative stress (losing and lacking oxygen) is associated with sleep apnea, encouraging scientists to further explore green tea extract as a means of addressing the problem. The key, active constitutents of green tea extract are polyphenols which support the nervous system.

More than 12 million people are affected by sleep apnea, according to the National Institutes of Health. Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) occurs when people stop breathing while they are sleeping with repeated occurrences throughout a night’s sleep.

Green tea extract is one of the ingredients in Ultimate Defense formula.
