The Olive Oil Industry is Full of Fraud — you may not be eating the real thing
The olive oil industry is riddled with fraudulent practices. Most olive oil is a low-grade mixture of olive oil and canola oil that has been deodorized and artificially colored — even if the label states “extra virgin, cold pressed.” Even if the label states that it was made in Italy.

5 Surefire Ways to Make Thanksgiving Dinner Healthier for Your Family

Thanksgiving is probably the biggest splurge holiday of the year. Sure, there’s some foggy details about some historical event, but mostly people take this time to be with friends, families and ridiculous amounts of food. The end result is that within a week afteward, the incidence of cold and flu spikes through the roof. That’s what you get when you combine too much sugar, fats and chemicals with a change in weather and the inevitable overeating that takes place.

Here are 5 Surefire Ways to make your Thanksgiving dinner healthier for you, your family and your friends:

  1. Use only organic or biodynamic ingredients. This will cut down on the artificial chemicals and toxins that are a part of most American’s Thanksgiving dinner.
  2. Do not use any fat other than unrefined olive oil, organic coconut butter, organic butter, or organic hemp oil
  3. Do not use any refined sugars. This is a big one, because it’s in most dessert recipes (and even in recipes for gravies), but it’s easy to avoid. Use raw honey and organic maple syrup instead. Any recipe can use this substitute. My family has been doing this for 20 years!
  4. Dress warm. Overeating tends to make you FEEL warmer, but when you step outside, make sure you’re covered well.
  5. Do not overeat. Save the extras for leftovers. Overeating puts a tremendous strain on every major organ as well as the immune system.

You’d be surprised how much healthier the above five tips will make your Thanksgiving dinner. Bon appetite!
