Cancer, Nutrition & Natural Health Care

Cancer is one of the most disturbing diseases of our common era. This is not only because of the disease itself, but because it continues to rise, statistically speaking. Many researchers are realizing that this is because of the numbers of toxic chemicals we are all exposed to. In fact, research shows that if you can avoid exposure, your chances of getting cancer greatly DECREASE. Here are the sources of toxins that we must be aware of:

  1. Toxins in our foods: artificial ingredients, pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, MSG, aspartame, barbecues, altered oils, food dyes, and other chemicals that our bodies do not recognize as foods. See the book Evil Genius in the Garden of Eden for a more complete discussion.Toxins from the environment: vehicle exhaust, toxic dumping that gets into our groundwater and food and drinking supply; incinerators (spewing mercury, lead and dioxins), pesticide spraying in neighborhoods and parks, polluted waterways, fluoride and chlorine in our water systems, etc.
  2. Toxins in our personal living spaces: plastics that off-gas, varnishes, paints, household bug sprays, house deodorants in aerosol cans, cleaning solutions, bleach, etc.
  3. Toxins from personal care products: nail polish and remover, hair sprays, cologne and perfume, toothpaste, mouthwash, lotions, moisturizers, makeup/cosmetics, hair dyes, powder, deodorants, etc.

Note that the food formulas listed below are not meant as a cure, but rather as support for the body. Further, it is wise to discuss these products and any others with one’s physician so he/she can coordinate your treatment accordingly:

There are healthful products made by a variety of companies to replace the toxic ones mentioned above. You owe it to yourself and your children to reduce the toxins/poisons in your life. Eat organic and biodynamic and get rid of artificial ingredients.

It should be noted that many food and environmental toxins directly alter the health of the hormonal system by interrupting hormonal functions. Such toxins include antibiotics commonly found in all non-organic meats and dairy products, and hormones, also found in non-organic meats and dairy. Such toxins often lead to cancers of the uterus, ovaries, breasts and cervix.

In addition to reducing the poisons, you should also know that there are a number of foods and herbs that can be used by the body to detoxify itself. Nature provides foods and herbs that have the ability to change fat-soluble poisons (including pesticides and others) into water-soluble substances that can then be removed out of the body during normal elimination (perspiration, urination, etc.) Among the top foods in this category are the cruciferous vegetables that contain important sulfur compounds: cabbage, Brussels’ sprouts, broccoli, radishes, cauliflower, kale, etc.

Nature’s whole, raw foods contain nutrients and substances that do not exist in any vitamin or multivitamin supplements; and these very nutrients are the ones most needed in cases of cancer and other diseases, including indoles, bioflavonoids, terpenes, curcumins, antioxidants, enzymes and coenzymes, chlorophyll, fiber, etc. These nutrients are found in certain whole food supplements if you cannot eat all of the foods necessary to feed your body what it demands.

Part of the detoxification plan includes avoiding all non-foods (See Alkaline Diet), avoiding all non-organic foods, avoiding all altered oils (especially margarine, hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated oils), and eliminating toxins from your home, from sprays to poisonous shampoo. Many doctors also recommend an organic coffee enema program to pull toxins out of the body via the liver and gallbladder.

There are also herbs that have traditionally been used to increase the body’s fight against disease and deterioration. These include Pau d’Arco, Cat’s Claw, Oregon Grape Root, Olive Leaf, Red Clover, Milk Thistle and others. (See UltimateDefense).

Next, there are foods that can be used to uplift the health of the body and make it more resistant to breaking down. Such foods build the immune system and include garlic, astragalus, Maiitake mushrooms, green tea and ginseng, to name a few. (See ImmuneSupport).

In summation, the main goal is to minimize your chances for cancer by removing poisons/toxins from your life. If you already have cancer, the goal is to remove the toxins, but also to detoxify your body and feed it the best possible foods.
