The Olive Oil Industry is Full of Fraud — you may not be eating the real thing
The olive oil industry is riddled with fraudulent practices. Most olive oil is a low-grade mixture of olive oil and canola oil that has been deodorized and artificially colored — even if the label states “extra virgin, cold pressed.” Even if the label states that it was made in Italy.

Calcium for All Kinds of Cramps

girl_stretchingby Vic Shayne, PhD

Calcium can come to the rescue in a wide range of health problems, from broken bones to fever, but it is probably most under-utilized when it comes to cramps. You can have leg cramps, back cramps, stomach cramps or menstrual cramps, and a good calcium-magnesium supplement can be of amazing help.

Muscles, whether in your bowels, calves, surrounding your eyes, uterus, or in your wrists, all need calcium and magnesium for proper expansion and contraction. Through overuse, infection, lack of oxygen or blood, or other biochemical or physical reason, muscles must have calcium and magnesium or they threaten to contract but not expand. The contraction causes pain and immobilization.

I highly recommend keeping a bottle of CalMag powder (or tablets if you just can’t do the powder in your medicine cabinet for emergencies. If you are going on vacation, pack it along. If you are going on a long-distance bike ride, or you’re into athletics, keep it on hand. The worst time to get some is at the moment you need it.
