Tree hugger. What does this phrase mean? Where did it come from? It was invented by CORPORATIONS who destroy the environment. The idea is to make anyone concerned about the environment a wack-job. Clever and manipulative? You bet. And it works. The words tree hugger are used as a defamatory name. Yet when you use them you’re simply playing into the hands of companies that are killing us ALL, like Bechtel, Halliburton, Dupont, Monsanto and the rest. No matter where you sit on the political spectrum, you need clean air, water and land in order to survive. And your children and friends and relatives need a clean environment. Otherwise we die of disease. This is a fact of biology, not a political standpoint.

Whether you’re republican or democrat, you can appreciate the value of a non-toxic environment.

Al Gore is the front runner, despite a smear campaign by both the extreme right wing and left wing, in trying to save this planet. Since the 1970s, he has been campaigning for a cleaner earth, and he’s been working on getting out the message of Global Warming. Now Al Gore has taken things a step further. He fought the powers that be in Tennessee so he could install a SOLAR ENERGY system at his home.

Al Gore’s home, which has been undergoing renovations for months, now boasts a solar roof. When his neighborhood in Tennessee changed zoning laws earlier this year, Gore was able to go ahead with the solar panel installation. You can read about the details of the battle to get the solar panels installed here. Gore is now preparing to install a geothermal system that will drastically reduce the cost of heating in his home. Other renovations on the house are aimed at meeting the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, or LEED, standards established by the U.S. Green Building Council. He is upgrading windows and ductwork, installing more energy-efficient light bulbs and creating a rainwater collection system for irrigation and water management.

“This is an issue about who we are as human beings,” Gore has said. “It is about the future of the human species. We are here to use political processes and freedom to communicate the truth of our situation.”

Our environment is our lifeline…
Our environment is directly connected to our state of health. The faster we all accept this truth, the faster we’ll cut down on disease and death due to poisoning from pesticides, global warming, herbacides, artificial ingredients in foods, toxic personal health care products, bug sprays, offgassing of plastic, using fossil fuels (gasoline, etc) and so forth.

This is why the principals of Nutrition Research Center have taken some very personal steps to do our share. We drive a Honda Civic HYBRID and an all electric motor scooter EMAX, use wind power, use Seventh Generation cleaning products, do not use commercial chemicals on our lawn, eat only organically grown foods and recycle everything we can.
